Maybe your staff needs a day out of the office and you want to plan a team bonding excursion. Or you have a group that loves to experience authentic Amish Country.
Whatever it is that draws you and your group together, let it draw you here. There are places across Elkhart County that will fit your needs and fill your stomach. With everything from traditional midwest beef to authentic Amish cuisine, you’ll find something for everyone here.
Yoder’s Banquets
Yoder’s Banquets in Shipshewana is more than a meal, it’s an experience where you learn culinary skills you can take home with you and impress your friends at your next dinner party. The main hall seats 110, and they offer an Amish cooking class as well as full meals designed for very hungry people, topped off with a choice of homemade pie. Before you go, enjoy a buggy ride around the farm. Their nearby, smaller, 50 person facility at Wana Banquets, is by reservation only.
Blue Gate Restaurant
Shipshewana’s Blue Gate Restaurant offers a spacious hall for huge events. When you’re not in their party space you can check out one of the shows in the Blue Gate theatre or take an Amish buggy tour offered by the Inn. And when your packed day is finished you can climb into a comfy bed in one of their well-appointed and relaxing rooms.
Das Dutchman Essenhaus
Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury has it all. Their banquet facilities cater up to 220 people, serving up a la carte menu items or family-style meals, including gluten-free options. You can stay at the inn on the grounds and after dinner, check out a show in Heritage Hall.
DaVinci’s Italian Family Restaurant
Your Old World experience begins with long banquet tables dotted with bottles of wine at the DaVinci’s Italian Family Restaurant. You can order off the menu or dig into an all you can eat family-style dinner. You can begin with a spicy bruschetta al pomodoro and move on to a slice of pizza or a delicious pasta dish.
The Carriage House
Reservations are required for dinner at The Carriage House in Topeka, IN, and once you experience it for yourself, you’ll understand why. It’s tempting to fill up on the delicious homemade bread and spreads, but that’s just the start of this all you can eat feast. Served family-style, you can choose from the Thrashers Meal, the Haystack Dinner, or chicken dinner and, of course, desserts. But the highlight of your visit to this Amish family farm is the cinnamon roll-making demonstration and tasting. At only $6 per person, this is a treat everyone can enjoy.
Townline Community Center
Townline Community Center in Shipshewana is ready to provide loving service and delicious food for up to 80 guests. Nora Bontrager and her daughters serve up family-style dinners including their Traditional Amish Wedding Dinner, plus more everyday Amish meals like the Haystack Dinner and Thrasher’s Dinner.
