Heritage Trail Audio Driving Tour
Every mile tells a story
Make road-tripping easy. The 90-mile route allows you to enjoy the Elkhart County area from the safety and comfort of your car while giving you the flexibility to stop and enjoy attractions, shops, restaurants and more at your leisure.
This scenic winding loop takes you through the vibrant communities of Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, Bristol, Wakarusa, and Shipshewana. It’s easy to explore, easy on your budget and you’re sure to discover fun at every turn.
Discover stunning views, historical sites and Amish heritage along the scenic backroads. Explore country lanes dotted with inviting Amish-owned shops showcasing handcrafted and homemade. Shop small and get creative at boutique and artisan shops along charming downtown Main Streets.

IMPORTANT Detour Info for August 1 - 4, 2024 (Downtown Elkhart)
Beginning Thursday, August 1 and running through Sunday, August 4, Main Street in downtown Elkhart is host to the Thor Industries Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix! It’s a fun weekend of speeding Go Karts, live music, food, and fireworks! These directions will help you navigate around the Grand Prix while still enjoying the Heritage Trail.
Traveling south on Cassopolis Street (SR 19) toward downtown Elkhart – At the intersection of Main Street and East Beardsley Avenue, pause the CD at Track #16 (10:09 minute mark), turn left onto East Beardsley Avenue. Take this until you get to the next traffic light at Johnson Street. Turn right, cross over the Johnson Street bridge and go to the traffic light at Jackson Boulevard. Turn left onto Jackson Boulevard. Resume the CD at Track #21 (12:34 minute mark). The Heritage Trail continues east on Jackson Boulevard.
Traveling northeast on Franklin Street into downtown Elkhart – Pause the second CD at Track #42 (1:51:45 minute mark). Turn left onto Second Street heading north. Continue on Second Street to the third stoplight and turn right on Jackson Boulevard. Travel one block and turn left on Main Street. Resume the CD at Track #44 (1:55:32 minute mark). Continue on the regular Heritage Trail route traveling north on Main.

Heritage Trail Audio Tour Tips
The Heritage Trail Audio Driving Tour begins at the Elkhart County Visitor Center, 3421 Cassopolis Street, Elkhart. The driving tour gives you timed, turn-by-turn directions on this scenic winding loop as it takes you through the vibrant communities of Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, Bristol, Wakarusa, and Shipshewana.
