Nappanee
Nappanee invites you to “Embrace the Pace.” It’s a pace that lets you take a beat, catch your breath, and open your eyes to a town offering an old-world work ethic and cutting edge treats. Tucked away into the southwest corner of Elkhart County, here you will find historic shopping venues, a challenging round of golf, and a great cup of coffee to keep your day moving. Once you’re embraced by the warmth and friendliness of Nappanee, you’ll never want to leave, but you can always come back.
Unique Finds
Well crafted items, many handmade by local artisans, fill the stores in Nappanee. Shopping here isn’t just about finding ‘some’ thing, it’s about finding ‘the’ thing.
The place to start is Coppes Commons. Once the center of industrial life in the 19th century, this complex turned out the finest kitchen cabinets around. Now it is the center of commerce for shopkeepers selling everything from quilts and Amish souvenirs at Country Home Shoppe, to Rocket Science ice cream. Just watching them concoct your creation will be a story you’ll relive when you get back home.
When you leave Coppes Commons, your arms and stomach will both be full. Maybe you’ll find the right rug you’ve been looking for or a book for the ride home. In between, snack on some gourmet popcorn or get a little twisted at Perfect Twist Pretzel.
Furniture isn’t just furniture at Homestyle Furniture Shoppe, it’s well-crafted art. They make pieces designed for any room in the house that will last for generations. You’ll be amazed by the Amish craftsmanship and when you touch the piece, you’ll feel connected to your trip and the people who lovingly made the furniture.
Of course, lots of smaller, family-owned shops dot the city of Nappanee, each one offering something unique. Take the time to inspect anything that catches your eye, and ask questions. There’s a good chance you’ll be asking the person who made it! The Nappanee Chamber of Commerce put together a map to help you plan your shopping excursions.
Good Fun
Throw your clubs in the trunk and hit the links. McCormick Creek Golf Course is an 18 hole course that serves as the centerpiece of an outdoor extravaganza. Located next to Nappanee’s Bike Trail and Stauffer park, you can get back to nature while working on your handicap.
If you’re looking for an entertaining evening, The Barns at Nappanee give a special rural charm to theater and special events. The Round Barn Theatre produces original works, as well as bringing in well known theatrical productions. Other barns on the property are available for corporate events or weddings, and food is provided by The Barns Restaurants.
Tasty Treats
Whether you’re looking to grab a coffee on the go or sit down for a memorable meal, there are plenty of authentic local restaurants ready to serve.
Main Street Roasters is more than a place where brews are lovingly made, it’s a community meeting spot. If you want to discover the true heart of Nappanee, this is the place to start.
RUHE152 combines delicious food in a setting filled with detailed design. Ruhe is Amish for Relax. Here you can have a craft brew, and choose from a menu serving up an eclectic take on comfort food.
