ELKHART — The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America is hosting its National Invitational Championship from March 10-12, 2022, at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center.

Featuring as many as 750 athletes from up to 50 colleges and universities across the U.S., the CSCAA meet is the second major swimming championship to visit downtown Elkhart in the last several weeks. In February, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships drew approximately 400 athletes as well as coaches, family and fans to downtown Elkhart.

“We’re excited to show off downtown Elkhart and the Elkhart County area to thousands of visitors during these championship events. We know the athletes, coaches, staff, and family and friends of the athletes will have a well-crafted experience at the Aquatics Center. Our many hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions love to welcome visitors with Hoosier hospitality,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The National Invitational Championship will have limited spectators, with 300 all-session passes being made to the general public. For information on purchasing passes, see this website. Spectators are asked not to come to the aquatics center without a pre-purchased passed. Live-streaming of the event is planned to be available at several of the hotels that are hosting swim teams.

The 170,000-square-foot Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center sits in the heart of the city of Elkhart’s growing River District neighborhood, where recent development has included hundreds of new apartments and townhomes as well as commercial development, enhanced public park and river access, and streetscape improvements. The city of Elkhart, Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Beacon Health System and private investors have all worked tirelessly to bring about the vision of the River District and Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center.

Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson said, “Here in Elkhart, we are proud of our Aquatics Center and are grateful for a chance to show it off. We are excited to have competitors and coaches to experience our city and will welcome these amazing athletes and their coaches with open arms.”

“We awarded a Team Indiana grant to the CSCAA National Invitational Championship because it is a fantastic event that will positively impact Elkhart and our state.  We are excited for the athletes, coaches, and fans to experience not only the state-of-the-art Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center, but also all the restaurants, attractions, and Hoosier Hospitality that Elkhart has to offer,” said Shannon Sullivan, Director of Team Indiana.

The Team Indiana grant program is an initiative of the Indiana Destination Development Corp.
