ELKHART — Jon Hunsberger recently joined the staff of the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau as director of destination development.

Hunsberger’s duties will include working with stakeholders from the private and public sector on projects, policies and initiatives impacting quality of place and tourism/hospitality marketing and promotion in Elkhart County.

“Having grown up in the Goshen area, I am especially excited to play a part in the many projects moving forward in Elkhart County,” Hunsberger said.

Hunsberger (photo at right) most recently served as the assistant administrator for planning and zoning in the city of Goshen. Prior to that, he worked for the city of Indianapolis from 2014-2016 and was involved in the planning and implementation of a number of successful redevelopment projects.

Hunsberger holds master of urban design and bachelor of urban planning and development degrees from Ball State University. He also earned an associate degree in business management from Bethel College.

“Jon brings an impressive set of credentials and experience to our staff,” said Diana Lawson, CEO of the ECCVB. “Elkhart County’s communities are unified as never before around quality-of-place priorities that will position us for strong economic growth. Jon’s skills are a critical addition to the ECCVB’s efforts.”

The ECCVB is a leader in championing place-making initiatives and tourism promotion in Elkhart County, including co-sponsoring the Vibrant Communities initiative, being a key contributor to the South Bend Elkhart Regional Partnership and Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission, and conducting comprehensive marketing and promotion programs for Elkhart County hospitality and tourism interests.
