Wellfield Botanic Gardens

overview

The 36-acre Wellfield Botanic Gardens site sits on and around the site of Elkhart’s historic wellfield. Today the crystalline Christian Creek, which once powered Elkhart’s 19th century mills, streams through and inspires this native habitat while the actual wellfields still provide Elkhart’s water supply. This on-going project currently features multiple unique specialty gardens with water features, sculptures, art, benches pagodas and a pond surrounded by flora and fauna of all types and sizes.  Annual updates and expansions of additional themed gardens will continue to be developed each year. Today groups can enjoy self-guided or official docent led guided tours of the gardens. Two golf carts are available to assist senior groups with accessibility (advance reservation requests only). Ask about catered box lunches, evening entertainment options and special event programs to add to the group experience.
