overview

Step back in time to a place where the echoes of history resonate in every corner, where the spirit of small-town America comes alive in the sweetest way possible. Welcome to The Wakarusa Dime Store, where every candy holds a story and every treat carries the warmth of tradition.

Our journey began over a century ago with Mose Wolfberg, a true pioneer with a pack on his back and a dream in his heart. From farm to farm, he spread joy and goods until he laid the foundation for what would become a local legend—the Wolfberg Department Store.

But it was his son, Louie, who truly left his mark on the community. In the whimsical late 1960s, with the birth of the Maple Syrup Festival, Louie had an epiphany—a confectionary masterpiece that would become synonymous with celebration: Jumbo Jelly Beans. A hundred pounds vanished like magic at that first festival, igniting a passion for sweetness that still burns brightly today.

Now, generations later, The Wakarusa Dime Store stands as a beacon of nostalgia and delight. With over 75 tons of jumbo jelly beans sold annually, we continue to weave the threads of tradition and innovation, offering a taste of yesteryear to every visitor who walks through our doors.

So come, wander through aisles filled with jars of memories and shelves stocked with childhood dreams. Indulge in the magic of simpler times, where each sugary delight is a ticket to a world of pure imagination.
