About the mural and artist:
My name is Josh Cooper. I was born in Chicago and moved back and forth between Goshen and Chicago until finally settling in Goshen in 1999 where I currently live with my wife, Debi and our 3 children.
I started painting and creating when I was young. Growing up in Chicago, I was fascinated with street art and graffiti. I started following my passion for graffiti, but was arrested in 1999. I then decided to put my work on canvases and dive more into "legal" art. As I continued to paint and create, I began to explore different mediums and surfaces and never stopped! As I grew as an artist, I began to establish a name for myself.
I created my first big mural in a hallway of the Roosevelt Center in Elkhart with others in our community. This mural was 12' x 175'. I also created a mural called Lifted In Love for Oaklawn in Goshen, Mural Of Love at the Elephant Bar in Goshen (seen on the cover of this submission), one at Canterbury private school in Fort Wayne, one at Meraki Art Store, along with work for Wawasee High School, Goshen Health, and local politicians. I also received a Little Big Idea Grant through Vibrant Communities to help start Goshen Rocks for which I painted over 800 rocks. I sat on the Goshen Mayor’s Art Council and serve on the Goshen Arts on the Millrace Committee.
I'm currently getting my certification in Art Therapy and plan to continue to help others heal through art.
