Celebrate an American dream and tour a musical instrument manufacturing company that has its roots in Elkhart, Indiana, a city once considered to be the “Band Instrument Capital of the World.” Mr. Walter started his musical instrument career at the famous C.G. Conn Company. As Head of Piano Design and Development Engineering he applied his engineering talents to piano acoustical design. When Conn discontinued its piano division, he and his wife pursued their dream to build an excellent instrument and in 1975 introduced the 43” Charles R. Walter Piano.
The art of creating fine pianos has continued through the generations and today the family-owned Walter Piano Company still builds pianos that incorporate the finest and most advanced design that technology can provide. Groups learn about the compelling history of this highly regarded company and see first-hand how accomplished craftsmen and technicians continue the skilled art of building superior pianos right here in the USA. Tours are offered to groups Tuesday and Thursday only at 2:30 p.m. Advance reservations are required.
