Help us plant 600 trees in three days!
We’re putting down roots all across Elkhart, and we need your help!
Through the Trees for the Hart initiative, the City of Elkhart, Elkhart Parks & Recreation, and the Elkhart Environmental Center are working toward planting 1,000 trees in Elkhart in 2026. More than 400 trees are already in the ground, and now we’re taking on our biggest challenge yet: 600 trees in just three service days!
Join us for one day, two days, or all three. Bring your friends, family, coworkers, classmates, or neighbors and spend a few hours making a lasting impact right here in our community.
No experience needed! The holes will already be dug, and we’ll provide the gloves and tools. Just show up ready to plant. Water and snacks will be provided by the Elkhart Parks & Recreation Root Crew.

• Make our neighborhoods greener and healthier
Registration is preferred but not required. Signing up ahead of time helps us know how many volunteers to expect and make sure we have everything ready for you.
Let's see what we can accomplish together. 600 trees. Three days. One greener Elkhart.
