Teen Indiana Master Naturalist Course

The Teen IMN program is a state-sponsored, introductory program of nature discovery and service learning for youth, ages 13-17.  Participants will be given many hands-on opportunities to learn about our Hoosier natural resources. It also provides a way for them to discover, through volunteer service, the local natural resource agencies and professionals.

The course will run every Tuesday in March from 12:30-5:30pm.  Here is the basic schedule:

• March 7 – meet at Baldwin Schoolhouse, Bonneyville Mill County Park
  • 12:30 – Check-in & Welcome
  • 1-3 – Winter Tree ID with Aaron Kingsley, Goshen City Parks
  • 3-3:30 – break & snack
  • 3:30-5:30 – Maple Syruping with Courtney Franke, Elkhart County Parks
• March 14 – meet at Baldwin Schoolhouse, Bonneyville Mill County Park
  • 12:30 – Check-in & Announcements
  • 1-3 – Indiana Soils with Jenna Wait, Elkhart County Soil & Water Conservation District
  • 3-3:30 – break & snack
  • 3:30-5:30 – Mammals & Winter Adaptations with Andy Langdon, Elkhart County Parks
• March 21 – meet at Baldwin Schoolhouse, Bonneyville Mill County Park
  • 12:30 – Check-in & Announcements
  • 1-3 – Indiana Owls & Pellet Dissection with Phelicia Jozwiak, Elkhart County Parks
  • 3-3:30 – break & snack
  • 3:30-5:30 – Water Quality with Krista Daniels, Elkhart County Parks
• March 28 – meet at Elkhart County Historical Museum, Bristol
  • 12:30 – Check-in & Announcements
  • 1-3 – Local Native American History with Patrick McGuire, Elkhart County Historical Museum
  • 3-3:30 – break & snack
  • 3:30-5:30 – Wildlife Rehabilitation with Dennis Badke, Foxwood Wildlife Rehabilitation
  • 5:30-6:30 – Pizza & farewells

Cost of the course is $60/participant, which covers all four sessions, speaker fees, administrative fees, supplies, snacks and a pizza party at the end.  Registration deadline is February 28, 2023.
