Growing up in Elkhart County in the 1950's and 60's, Ken Pletcher experienced Hoosier Hysteria at its best. Shooting endless baskets on his garage hoop and parking in front of his family's radio every Friday night to listen to games, Ken came to love the game of basketball. He went on to play and coach basketball for many years. In this course, the history and impact of Indiana basketball will be shared and discussed. The first two sessions will focus on the passion that is Hoosier Hysteria from its early days of Milan and South Bend Central through the time of packed gyms and tremendous local rivalries. The third and fourth sessions will delve into the inclusion of women in Indiana high school sports and the move to class sports.
