Fun Things To Do Labor Day Weekend in Elkhart County
The kids may be back in school, but that’s no reason the fun has to end. Labor Day in the Elkhart County area has plenty for everyone to do.
Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail
With 13 super-sized gardens featuring stunning quilt designs, the Quilt Gardens is enough to fill a couple days. The best thing is all Quilt Gardens and Quilt Murals are along the Heritage Trail, so there will be plenty of places to stop for a meal, snacks, drinks and unique shopping. The Quilt Gardens are viewable through September 15.
Shipshewana Labor Day Extended Flea Market
The Shipshewana Auction & Flea Market, 345 S. Van Buren St. (State Road 5), Shipshewana, is adding Labor Day, September 2, to its regular weekly schedule of Tuesdays and Wednesdays. With 700 booths featuring home décor, fashions, accessories, jewelry and more, a day at Midwest’s Largest Flea Market will satisfy every appetite. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Goshen First Fridays: Savor the Summer
Wrap up your Labor Day festivities at the monthly Goshen First Fridays festival in downtown Goshen from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 6.
The Savor Summer Showcase is a sampling of everything good about the warmer months, and revelers of all ages are invited to this ‘sayonara to summertime’ soiree! The streets of downtown Goshen will be alive with music, activities for kids, shopping specials, a summer-to-fall fashion show, and a general assortment of warm-weather action.

Need some last-minute provisions for your Labor Day fun, you can’t go wrong with Das Dutchman Essenhaus’ bakery for cookies, pies and other sweet treats, Fruit Hills Winery & Orchard for a special bottle of wine (or more!), Linton’s Enchanted Gardens for the perfect home, garden and patio décor, or Yoder’s Popcorn for savory snacks.
