People in the greater Chicago and Indianapolis region are getting a taste of the eclectic dining, music and shopping scene in Elkhart County thanks to a partnership between the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.
A TV commercial featuring footage from Amish Acres, Artisan, Found, Goshen Brewing Co., Ignition Music, the Old Bag Factory and Quilt Gardens will be airing to viewers in the wider Chicago and Indianapolis area. The commercial invites viewers to enjoy the “urban-rural fusion” of attractions ranging from downtown galleries, shops, restaurants and nightlife in Elkhart and Goshen, scenic outdoor vistas offered by parks and gardens, and the unhurried getaway of Amish Country, rural landscapes and home-cooked comfort foods.
“The chance to be partners with the Indiana Office of Tourism Development is one that couldn’t be passed up,” said Diana Lawson, chief executive officer of the ECCVB. “We’re so happy that we can spotlight the amazing diversity of experiences people can have when they spend their free time here. From concerts to stunning works of art to great outdoors experiences and the relaxed rural lifestyle, we have it all here.”
The commercial is only one component of a partnership of the ECCVB and the state of Indiana that is equivalent to a $300,000 investment. The campaign also includes radio and digital advertising, print ads in major magazines, billboards, and a dedicated website where visitors can learn more and plan their trip to Elkhart County.
The video footage was gathered this winter by a film crew commissioned by IOTD’s advertising agency. Some of the footage captured in Elkhart and Goshen is also being used in the statewide Honest-to-Goodness Indiana campaign which includes an original song performed by Jon McLaughlin.
