ELKHART — A new mural celebrating the qualities that make Elkhart County such a well crafted community has been installed at the Elkhart County Visitor Center, 3421 Cassopolis St., Elkhart.

Goshen artist Josh Cooper’s bold and colorful style shows off the creative, entrepreneurial and hand-crafted assets of Elkhart County, from craft beer and recreational vehicles to musical instruments and scenic beauty.

“Elkhart County residents are incredibly talented and believe passionately in hand-crafted quality. We were excited to partner with Josh on a beautiful mural that represents the pride that we have in our community,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The mural incorporates Elkhart County’s Well Crafted destination brand and the state of Indiana’s new IN Indiana identity to promote tourism and instill community pride. As part of the introduction of the IN Indiana identity, the state offered grants to artists and destinations to create unique, locally oriented public art that included the new state identity.

“Art is a healing journey for me. I love to create using bright, bold, vibrant colors to uplift those around me. I enjoy bringing positive messages through art, while bringing vibrancy to Elkhart County,” said Cooper.
